Moses Life - Part 3

Everything that happened during life time of Moses , God used it as a shadow of what to come in the future.



5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.

Numbers 11:4

4 Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: “Who will give us meat to eat? 5 We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic; 6 but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!”


The people were crying that there is no fun except manna.
 fish, cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, garlic.
complain is  life became so dry man.

nothing but manna.

and to eat manna.
7 Now the manna was like coriander seed, and its color like the color of bdellium. 8 The people went about and gathered it, ground it on millstones or beat it in the mortar, cooked it in pans, and made cakes of it; and its taste was like the taste of pastry prepared with oil. 9 And when the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.

Ground it and beat it
cook it pan, cakes of it
taste with oil.

6 Now these things became our examples, to the intent that :
we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. 



7 And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”[a] 

Exodus 32:1
Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”

the moment  the leader is away for few weeks people started looking for idols.
standby leader did not resist , these people were so intense they wanted an idol.
do not replace God with anything.
God does not want anyone/anything to take His place.
He is a jealous God.
Exodus 34: 14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God)


8 Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell; 
Numbers 25: 
Now Israel remained in Acacia Grove,[a] and the people began to commit harlotry with the women of Moab. 2 They invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. 3 So Israel was joined to Baal of Peor, and the anger of the Lord was aroused against Israel.

Moses married a non -israelite, but he did not do that with lust or immorality.
but here we see people lusted after midianites.


9 nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents; 

Rebellion brings temptation to speak about God and the leader.

Numbers 21.

4 Then they journeyed from Mount Hor by the Way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom; and the soul of the people became very discouraged on the way. 5 And the people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and our soul loathes this worthless bread.” 6 So the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and many of the people of Israel died


10 nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer. 

11 Now all[b] these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.




Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 

Murmuring

Habit of murmuring leads to rebellion.
Some people are not content with the task they are given. They always wants what others do.
Korah and his company are To do the work of these Tabernacle.

The moment you seek what God has not appointed for then it is about standing against the Lord.

Therefore you and all your company are gathered together against the Lord . And what is Aaron that you complain against him?”

So when God started to deal with people, then learn from the discipline rather than complain about servants of God.

V 41 to 47
They started murmur and perished.

Rock is Christ.

At last

God says to Moses
Take the rod, but speak to the Rock
Exodus 17
Strike the Rock

Hebrews 6: 4-8

“Take the rod; you and your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, and it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and give drink to the congregation and their animals.”

Even when Moses hit the tablets God didn't say anything, but when strike the Rock, God was angry.

“The secret things  belong to the Lord our God, but those things  which  are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

Psalm 133

V 1 )  How Good and Pleasant it is for brethren to dwell in unity.

Genesis 13:8 says
Abram and Lot are Brethren.
if Abraham and Lot are brethren then the son should how good and how pleasant it is.

but the song in the below scripture portion is that
how good and pleasant it is for brethren to separate and dwell individually.


8 So Abram said to Lot, “Please let there be no strife between you and me, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen; for we are brethren. 9 Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me. If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I will go to the left.” 

So what is the problem here.

5 Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks and herds and tents. 6 Now the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together. 7 And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites then dwelt in the land.

Why is Abraham so vexed and so tired that he said  pleases separate from me.
Are they not brethren?
we see many times when we dwell with some people, we feel after some time it is better to separate and go away. you might say even when i show goodness the other person is responding with wickedness, it is better to separate.

whats happening below is a kind of competition.
Abraham had flocks - Lot  had flocks
Abraham had herds - Lot  also had herds
Abraham had tents - Lot also had tents
Possessions of Abraham were great - Lots Possessions of Abraham were great.

In Church also we see this kind of competitive spirit.

only you can cook well- I can cook well
you can organize this - I can also organize this 


This competitive spirit is what brings discord, jealousy, 
this brings if one person organize some things, then the other person gets upset.
they can't even appreciate what others do. 

But the Word says

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!

so what and where should this be unity in brethren.


Unity in mind and judgement(thought).
1 Corinthians 1:
10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment


Unity in faith
Ephesians 4:11
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

3 (make every effort)endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Blessing is upon the unity in Church.
God commands blessing where there is unity in the Church.

For there the Lord commanded the blessing—

Moses ministry
Exodus  2:11-14
Acts 7

When Moses thought the people will understand what he is doing.

People will not understand when we do things on our own feelings, burdens.

Especially people who do wrong they will not understand.

First thing is they don't respect authority,
They will ask who made you ruler ?
Unless it is approved authority, people will not respect.

All good intentions, but the timing.

God waited for the time of promise
Why did Israeli ties waited for 430 years to come out.


God doesn't act because we are in hurry.

Acts 7:17

We should alwayd be aligned to The timing of the Lord.
But as the time of the promise was approaching which God had assured to Abraham, the people increased and multiplied in Egypt.

Genesis 15:16
16 But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.


God was so patient with Amorites. we can see the waiting nature of God. He does not want any one to persih.


Burning bush.

God appeared to Moses in a burning bush.
Moses was well learned man. Acts 7 says he is an expert in all sciences.
But the moment he saw bush he was amazed.
Moses was the most learned hebrew of all the people in egypt.
When God takes us through learning, He will use it in days to come.
40 years of palace learning
40 years of wilderness learning - nothing was in waste.


God reveals Himself in a unique way to each person.

Visions, dreams.

Fire reveals God's holiness.
God revealed Himself as Fire many times through wilderness journey.

Pillar of fire.
God is consuming fire.

A living bush with fire .
This is what God wants us to be.

We will not be consumed but we will be revealing God's holiness.

God showed the miracles he can do, appeared in bush, spoke face to face, but still he says I cannot.

That's how much he was humbled.

It's not just calling. God expects you to walk the talk.
So He purifies
Zipporah circumcised son.


Pharaoh tried to Kill Moses and all male children.
But It returned back in the form of last plague.

What you sow is what you reap.
Do not be deceived bible verse.

A person character is revealed not in good times and in not so comfortable times
Opposition for Moses

Numbers 16:3 - Korah and company.
Any work you do , do not take it lightly.

Numbers 12: Moses was Humble
Numbers 13,4 - Spies rebellion affected whole nation.

Even great man of God needs advice of brothers.
Jethro advising Moses. (Exodus 18)

Psalm 132

V 2  -  David Swore to the Lord

How he swore to the Lord,
And vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:


V 11

The Lord has sworn in truth to David;
He will not turn from it:


When man takes a step of faith, God blesses us in return for that step of faith.


When God called Abraham to leave his country, he took a step of faith.
and God made him father of faith.

Same with Sarah, why today every women who believed in Jesus is called daughter of Sarah. There were so many great women ( Mary, Deborah,Rebekah), but God has chosen Sarah because she took step of faith to walk with Abraham and more than that she considered Him as faithful 


Moses parents , even though the king has ordered to kill all the male children, they saw the child was beautiful and they were not afraid of kings command and they hid the child for 3 months.

This is the step of faith by Moses parents.
and God in return blessed Moses to be the prince of Egypt, gave wages for his mother to raise him up, ultimately he became the deliverer of the Israelites out of egypt.

So let us see what is Davids vow?

The most comfortable for a person is his bed.
I will not give sleep to my eyes and slumber to my eye lids.
until I find a resting place.


we see people  saying Until i find a good job, i will not eat , i will fast and pray
Until I buy the house,  i will pray.

Remember when he was saying this statement, he became the king.
he has the palace.

Until I find a house for My God , i will not sleep , the most comfortable thing in my life, i will leave it.

David says, I wont go to the comfort of my bed.


Great men and women of God have left their comfort places to go and serve and preach gospel around the world.

What is your most comfort place today that you can leave and use it for God, Gods house, Gods Kingdom?

is it your time of sleep?
is it your time of parties?

This statement from David really challenges me.

What is Gods promise back to David.

Davids descendants are blessed and God blessed Zion.

Because of one mans step of faith, God in return blessed descendants and God blessed the Church.
