Psalm 50

A psalm of Asaph.

God is the Judge. and He Speaks.
V1 - Summons the earth
V4- God summons heaven and earth.

The Scene here is God summons heaven and earth for Judgement.

And there are 2 sets of people
V5 - Gather all saints who made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.
V16 - to the wicked He says
and now see V6 says - God Himself is Judge.

I think most of the times we do not realize God is the Judge and we keep on judging others.
The Word says God Himself is Judge.

James 4:12

11 Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister[d] or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?

I think we come to God with an attitude of doing something to God
by giving offerings.

But what God expects is give thanks offering.
what is a thanks offering -

you can bring two types of offerings
you can bring thanks offering
you can bring unthankful offering ( or an attitude of doing some help to God.)

that is why n Revelation 2:4 says , Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.

That First Love is so important.
at the first love you be not be a big giver. you may not be doing big works in the Church.
you may be simply coming to God with an attitude being thankful , a child like heart , just wrapped in the love of God. Being so thankful , filled with joy that a wretched sinner like me is saved by grace.
But now as days went by you know the Word more, you are given responsibilities in Church, you are doing lot of activities , in all this you miss out that child like behavior, that joy filled heart, that thankful heart, that heart of gratitude.
The problem in doing all these things minus God is that we are actually worshiping ourselves worshiping our way of giving, our way of doing the works.


v22,v23 - Donot forget God in all these works and offering.
Let us set straight our attitude of Worship , be thankful . Have that First Love. Amen.

Psalm 48

The Glory of God in Zion
 A psalm of sons of Korah.

Here the psalmist explains the beauty of Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is the city of God.



Beautiful in elevation
         God has placed Jerusalem on top. and in its elevation it looks beautiful.
         Ephesians 2:6
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus

God has raised the Church and made the Church to sit in heavenly places.

It is not like how the world lives, but Church is beautiful because Its seated in heavenly places.

Joy of the Whole earth
         Why is Jerusalem the joy of whole earth,because God chosen Church to show His grace to the whole world through the Church.
         It is the Church, where lives are changed.
         It is the Church, where sinners are made to saints.
         If there is any hope for this world, it is Church because God chose Church to fulfill His purposes.

God is in her palaces, He is known as her refuge.  -  
        Why Jerusalem is beautiful is because God is in its midst. Any trouble in the world, God is its refuge.

Verse 9:
we have thought of your loving kindness in your temple. Church is beautiful because the meditation of loving kindness of God .

Here we see that Church is beautiful because it is centered around God s grace, centered on Gods meditation.

Verse 8:

This phrase "As we heard it, so we see it"
The world hears and knows lot about Church , Christianity but when they come and see in person do they find what they heard.
They know christian is all about love, merciful, grace and truthful.

Can the outside world declare this about the Church
" Yes, As we have heard about the Church, now we see they are indeed full of love, full of mercy,compassion. Indeed God is in their midst"
