Psalm 112

Psalm 112

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who delights greatly in His commandments.

The Word delight mean to bend or to incline to something.

You take pleasure in something. These are the days where the delight is all virtual. People are delighted in gadgets.  Last week when i was travelling in train, person next to me was laughing out loudly. then i see whatsapp joke.
Everything is virtual. Even when worship is going on, some take delight in looking at facebook or whatsapp or texting somebody. That is their delight.

But God says Blessed is the man who delights greatly in His commandments.
There are many things we can do that God commands us to do, but if there is no delight in what you do, there is no blessing.
say the command is God is to forgive.  or
even when you are giving your tithe, you should have delightful heart.
Gods Word says be a cheerful giver. you should delight in your giving.

Is there a delight in your heart to follow God. Or you are doing things just for sake of being religious.
The blessing for such people is their children are blessed. Wealth and riches are in their house , means they are prosperous.

5. A good man deals graciously and lends;
He will guide his affairs with discretion.

2 Samuel 5:10

Then David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the City of David. And David built all around from the Millo[b] and inward. 10 So David went on and became great, and the Lord God of hosts was with him.

Psalm 27:4
One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.

Although there is wealth and riches in his house, a good and upright man deals his affairs with Discretion.

A good man deals graciously and lends. He shows the character of God. when a brother or sister is in trouble, they deal and reveal the grace of God. Have you seen a brother or sister in need and just walked away saying i will pray for you. or did you dealt graciously and gave a helping hand.

They deal their affairs with discretion. They have sound mind.
They don't embrace the immediate blessing they got, rather they channel that blessing to others and they embrace the things to come.

7) He will not be afraid of evil tidings;
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.

8) His heart is established;

Is your heart established, or is it wavering.
It doesn't change for situations.

Lack of Godly Sorrow.

2 Corinthians 7:10  Godly Sorrow.
There is lacking of Godly sorrow.
When we think of sorry, it s one of the most abused words ,
For anything people say sorry.
If you accidentally step on a person foot you say sorry, if you open the door and  don't hold it for others you say sorry.
Sorry is not simply a word .to tell is. It's a feeling .

Many times we are like pharoah.
Exodus 8:8
Sorry Please ask Lord.
Verse 15
When pharoah saw there was relief,
Again sin.
And it happened many times,
Whenever there is trouble we will say sorry Lord or we will ask pastor please pray for me  but when danger is gone and relaxed you will.
People When they don't have job they fast and pray, your bed will be full of tears .
But when you get the job,  your heart is hardened to pray like pharoah,
Like pharoah said who will do the work, you say who will go to morning work if I sit n pray in the night.

Church, our hearts should be established in the light of God. Not changing colors for situations.

Calling - Living in Heavenly Places

As the series is about Calling , I will be sharing on the Abraham's calling.

Ephesians 2:4-5

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus

Ephesians 1:3

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Hebrews 11:9

By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; 10 for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

Abraham was called from Mesopotamia and came to Haran and then finally came to Canaan.
So after he reached Canaan, the land of promise, what should be his attitude.
Yes, I made it, this is the land. this is where am going to settle down.
Its like, Ok God promised that i will come to US and now i came , i settle down here.

This Word says he lived in the land of promise as in a foreign country.
Remember it is who promised, its God who promised. and finally he reached the promised land, and now started living as if in a foreign country.

Genesis 47

And Jacob said to Pharaoh, “The days of the years of my pilgrimage are one hundred and thirty years; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and they have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.”

Similarly in below scripture, Jacob says to Pharaoh that the years of my pilgrimage. How did Jacob knows to live a life of pilgrimage. He saw his father Isaac and grandpa Abraham. that is why he says in the days of their pilgrimage.

Pharaoh asked for a his age, but the word of the godly man carries the weight of eternity.

Hebrews 11:13
13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them,[c] embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

what you worry for now might not matter after few years

15 And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return.

16 But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

Can you name some things that are mentioned in new testament, but not mentioned in old testament.

Heavenly Places.

kingdom of heaven in new testament.

All these Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and other saints, by their life they confessed their strangers- they were not shouting that we are strangers, but their life showed that they were strangers.
For example, take Abraham

Abraham is rich man
gold, silver, rich, 400 servants, but still he did not build a palace for him.

What kind of vanity is this.
It is not like,  Anyhow, there is a town that is built, now that i don't have children, not that i don't have health, i won't build a palace, but live in tents.

so is it wrong to build a house? then you all should be living in tents.
You know you should have wisdom in this.

you should eat - but not become a glutton
you should need money - not money lover

the secret is this.David says in
Psalm 67:1,2
God be merciful to us and bless us,
And cause His face to shine upon us,
That Your way may be known on earth,
Your salvation among all nations.

1) Calling  involves living in  Heavenly Places is - Living By Word of God.
John 4:34
34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.
Abraham listened to the Word of God.
Gen 12:1-7

Great Nation - I will make you a great nation  V 2
Land Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.”
Seed And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed V 3
Today are we able to see beyond what we see now?

But what made him to look for the city. He carefully looked at the Word.
Not like a sluggard. Great nation. As numerous as stars in the sky, as sand.
He might have prayed, God revealed a city.
what is manna.
Manna - means what is this

31 And the food became known as “manna” (meaning “What is it?”); it was white, like coriander seed, and flat, and tasted like honey bread.

comes from heaven
Nothing like this
every morning this comes
it comes covered with snow.
it should grounded
watered - tears
salt - grace
fire to make it bread.

Numbers 11:6-9
but now our whole being is dried up; there is nothing at all except this manna before our eyes!”

Now the manna was like coriander seed, and its color like the color of bdellium. The people went about and gathered it, ground it on millstones or beat it in the mortar, cooked it in pans, and made cakes of it; and its taste was like the taste of pastry prepared with oil. And when the dew fell on the camp in the night, the manna fell on it.

2) Heavenly Places -   Not slave to the laws. Freedom from the religious laws and patterns.

Galatians 4:26

26 But our mother-city is the heavenly Jerusalem, and she is not a slave to Jewish laws.

This Jerusalem is Heavenly. This is what Abraham is looking for.
This city is not a slave to Jewish laws.

John 6:4, Jesus always performed miracles on Sabbath to irritate the law following Jews.

Rich man following laws.

In Matthew 19:21, Jesus speaks to the rich man.

Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

3) Heavenly places - Looking for everything that has God as builder and architect.

Acts2: The disciples are waiting because, Jesus said in Matthew 16:18, I will build my Church.

Genesis 13:1 at babel, they said let us build the house
Psalm 127:1
Unless the Lord builds the house,

If you dont receive the Word then you will build your own. but if you receive promise from God, then you will atleast have a base and then allows you to wait for something that is built by God.

Foundation,  builder, architect should be God.

4) Heavenly places - Doing the will of God

Angels in heavenly places do the will of God.

Hosea - married a prostitute.
Lot - did not look back even when wife is dead

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not fight with flesh and blood.

Meditate
Philippians 4:8

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

3) Heavenly places  Colossians 3  - Builder and architect is God.

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God

3

John 14 : 2,3

In My Father’s house are many mansions;[a] if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.[b] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

David although constructed city of David but still living in Gods temple.

Jesus says" you are not of the world just as I am "

Deuteronomy 4:32

32 “For ask now concerning the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and ask from one end of heaven to the other, whether any great thing like this has happened, or anything like it has been heard. 33 Did any people ever hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and live?
