PRAISE THE LORD
The title of the psalm is an instruction to the Worship Leader.
You tune should be set to "silent dove in a distant land".
We know David as a young boy who killed goliath.
But at the time of writing this psalm, David lost his job, lost of his best friend, his wife and he has to run away from he is in a distant land
The natural emotion for a man in such situation is Fear.
Fear is the biggest tormentor in a mans life.
Fear:
There are healthy fears.
1) Fear of God.
2) Fear of
There are fears that can cripple you.
Fear of health, fear of job security, fear of paying the bills, fear of facing the tomorrow. Fear of rejection, fear of not showing faces in zoom meeting.
These kind of fears cripple a person.
Fear can bring down mans life.
Whenever you see challenges around you, fear comes out.
But what you do when fear comes upon you is what matters most.
When David was afraid, what did he do in verse 3
V 3 - Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.
Whenever ( not a one time, but whenever)
God does not wants us to live in fear, ruled by fear.
Chorus:
V 4 , V 10,V 11
In God (I will praise His word),
In God I have put my trust;
I will not fear.
What can flesh do to me?
The More trust you have - the Less you fear.
David is bringing a trust factor in overcome the fear.
Trust is on God
But Trust comes with knowledge of God.
1) Know that God is in control.
2) Did you cry last night -> God has it in his record (v 8)
3) Promise of eternity ( v 13).
V 13
13 For You have delivered my soul from death.
Have You not kept my feet from falling,
That I may walk before God
In the light of the living?
Determination
Knowledge.
In a Fallen world, for a fallen man, fear is automatic.
But Faith requires building it up.
How to Build Faith.
a) First Praise - Declare who He is.
When you start declaring the praises of God, you will be filled in the Spirit.
Jehoshaphat -
Simple example:
In Schools, the students will study their subjects all around the year.
Every week, month, quarter they face examinations and then finally June comes they get to Final Examinations.
In a Similar way, you read the Word, you meditate on it.
But in your daily life, do you take that Word and exercise in your weekly tests that you face.
